Nuance Warning
수고했어요 and 고생했어요 both acknowledge effort, but 수고했어요 is typically said to someone who just finished a task (like a coworker finishing a shift). 고생했어요 / 고생 많이 했어요 is more appropriate for a long-term effort like studying for months or going through a difficult process. Use 고생 many times했어요 when congratulating.

Translation Tip
드디어 means "finally" after a long wait or effort. It's a very Korean word for celebrating that something took effort and time before succeeding. 드디어 됐네요! = "It finally happened!" — this one word communicates "I know how long and hard this was."
